Not all of the islands are large. Some are just rocks in the sea.

We'd be talking a little walk into town.
Bluebeard's Castle is a historic property that dates back to the 17th century, including this tower fortress. It was up on a hill and is just part of a resort now, so we did not climb the hill to see it, hence this blurry zoomed-in photo.

DUPLICATE PHOTO WARNING These might be my oldest duplicate photos I have ever had from the cruise I was on in 1993. Fort Christian, a 17th century fort built when the island was controlled by the Kingdom Denmark. It was not open on this day, so we could not go in.
The Frederick Evangelic Lutheran Church was established in 1966, but this building was completed in 1793.
I had to do some checking on this. There is a plaque on the front of the building but it is rather small. The Jacob H. S. Lind House was built around 1800 and was originally a private home in the Danish manor style. Subsequent uses have been a home for the aged, parochial school, post office, high school annex and currently a parish hall library.
The Hotel 1829 was built in 1829 (shocker!) by Alexander Lavalette, a wealth sea merchant. That statue in the foreground is a fellow called J. Antonio Jarvis, who was apparently a big deal educator.
It was fairly quiet on Dronningens Gade on this early Saturday morning. It is part of the U.S, but there are a lot of Danish street names.
More of that nice colorful Caribbean architecture.

You can't really see it, but on all of the arches over the doors it say Bank of St. Thomas. It is obviously not that anymore.

St. Peter and Paul Cathedral is the seat of the Diocese of St. Thomas. That's a lot of saints.
An anagram of Charlotte Amalie is a theatrical mole.
A seaplane just landed. Is it landed when they end up on the water?
DUPLICATE PHOTO WARNING Thirty years earlier the Capitol Building was painted green.
You would think they could keep the chickens from roaming the grounds.
It was kind of weird in St. Thomas. The U.S.V.I. is an American territory, but they drive on the left. Even more odd is that all the vehicles have the driver side on the left, like everywhere else in the U.S. That has to be hell for Americans renting a car down there. At least in the U.K. you are on the left side of the road but sitting in the right seat.
I didn't take a picture of this professional building (although I guess I did), but the buildings behind it. That's the Government House, where they must do government stuff.
So the guy who owns this boat must be from Colorado. It has the C from the state flag on it and the boat's name had 5280 in it. For those who do not know, that is the number of feet in a mile, as in a mile high, the elevation of Denver. Of course he might be bragging about being a member of the mile high club after banging a stewardess.

St. Thomas in the afternoon.
San Juan in the early morning.
We had an afternoon flight but had to get off the ship in the morning, so we did a lot of waiting in the terminal.
They really need to do something about the gates at the airport in San Juan. Parking planes that seat over 200 passengers at a gate with about 60 or so seats is not a good idea. And there were several gates at the end of the concourse. Anyway, I watched Oppenheimer on the flight back. We landed, got back to my father's house at around 6:00 pm and then I drove back to Nashville, with a gas and coffee stop at Buc-ee's of course.
