This foggy way to the Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha.
I let him lie.
A couple of people doing something.
I should have known better than to climb the 250 steps because I knew when I got to the top I would see...
...fog. Behind that fog is the Tian Tan Buddha, aka The Big Buddha. I am standing right below it and can barely make out the shape.
There are other statues surrounding The Big Buddha.
They are The Offering of the Six Devas.
Back down from the foggy Buddha and toward the Po Lin Monastery.
More people burning things.
If there was ever a fire at a temple, who would know? It always smells like it is burning.
When in Europe I take pictures of old churches. In Asia I take pictures of temples.
The Chinese Simon and Garfunkel.
At a lot of these shrines are piles of fruit, particularly oranges and apples. I guess the gods like fruit.
This is the Grand Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas.
It is absolutely beautiful inside.
I think the 10,000 counts all of these little pictures of Buddhas.
Behind that building is another smaller and more modest one. Here is a man praying in front of more fruit.
I am not entirely sure what this building is for, but there is a large space that looks like it is for meetings.
There is also an area that looks like a nursery or the outdoor section of a home improvement superstore.
These are really beautiful buildings.
This is where you burn your sticks.
Then you wave them around and put them here. I don't know much about Buddhism. I'm sure the fruit and burning stuff means something.
