DAY 7

AMSTERDAM
| Central Station in Amsterdam. |
![]() |
| While winding my way to my hotel (I started out in the wrong direction), I walked past the Private store. Private makes some of the best pornography out there. |
![]() |
| The Westenkerk church. |
![]() |
| The building with the red shutters is leaning a bit to the right. Then again it is over 350 years old. |
![]() |
| The Hotel Luxer. |
![]() |
| My room at the Luxer was on the top floor. You can see some of the slant of the roof on the wall on the right. |
![]() |
| The Warmoesstraat. The hotel was on this pedestrian street. That was good because there was no traffic noise to deal with. |
![]() |
| In a town full of sin, I wasn't surprised to see death. Actually there were several people dressed in costumes on Dam Square who had their photos taken with tourists for money. |
![]() |
| The Koninklijk Paleis or Royal Palace, completed in 1655. It was originally the town hall, but when Napoleon installed his little brother to the throne in Holland it became more of a palace. It is still used by the Dutch royal family on occasion. |
![]() |
| The Damrak, a pretty busy street in the center of town. |
![]() |
| A canal. There will be more pictures of canals to follow. |
![]() |
| The house in the center (the ones with the green doors) is the Anne Frank House. The house on the right holds more of the museum. |
![]() |
| Haarlemmerstraat. Those aren't Stars of David over the street. Just decoration. This was not a particularly Jewish part of town. We'll see that later. |
![]() |
| The Sexmuseum. Admission wasn't too high so why not? |
![]() |
| It's a good thing this is a small photo. In the larger version you could make out some of the things in this room. As it is you can identify an old ceramic dildo and figurines of people engaged in coitus. I won't mention the old paintings on the wall depicting a girl and her small dog. |
![]() |
| Another canal. This one at dusk. |
![]() |
| La Madonna restaurant. You can only eat so much local flavor. I had a big ol' spinach pizza. Amsterdam is a bit like New York in that there are restaurants of just about every kind of food from all over the world. |
