DAY 1
LOUVRE

A small grocery.

The weather in the morning was a bit misty and drizzly, but it started to rain about midday. Not heavy rain, but real raindrops.

A Rue Daguerre, a pedestrian street with shops and cafes and such. The smells emanating from the cafes and bakeries were wonderful.
A French toilet training seat. Probably wouldn't smell as nice as baked goods.
There were many movie posters in the Metro stations. In addition to "40 Ans, Toujours Puceau" Jodie Foster's face was all over the place in "Flight Plan".

A panoramic view of the Louvre courtyard.

A statue of Louis XIV, the Sun King.

The Court of Napoleon at the Louvre.

There were a few works in the museum that I was familiar with. However, there were some that visitors could not photograph, such as the Mona Lisa. This is the Winged Victory of Samothrace. It's about 2200 years old.
The Louvre was once a palace. I don't know who these statues depict, but they are probably some old French aristocrats.
Statues.
I'm not sure, but my guess is that this was an old fireplace from the palace.
Here's another famous one, the Venus de Milo.
Some old Egyptian stuff. I was seconds away from catching a fabulous babe having her picture taken in front of the big statue thing, but I couldn't get my camera out and ready fast enough.
There was a castle here in the 12th century built to defend Paris against the Vikings, but a few hundred years later a palace was begun. This is the foundation of the original fortress beneath the museum.
