FRIDAY - CHIBA

TOKYO DISNEY RESORT
| If you didn't know better, you would think this picture was taken in Florida. |
![]() |
| Across the way is Tom Sawyer's Island. |
![]() |
| The entrance to Adventureland. |
![]() |
| It hasn't been a popular attraction for a long time, but all the parks seem to have a Swiss Family Treehouse. I half expected it to be a giant bonsai tree. |
![]() |
| The Enchanted Tiki Room was closed too. From the sign out front, it appears that it is being redone with some sort of Stitch addition. I'm not sure that will be a good thing. |
![]() |
| The line for the Jungle Cruise was huge. I decided to skip it. After all, I'm sure it's the same as the other parks and I wouldn't get the corny jokes in Japanese anyway. |
![]() |
| Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. This part of Adventureland is New Orleans themed. |
![]() |
| The loading area resembles the one in Disneyland. Except for the skull at the beginning warning you of dangers ahead speaking Japanese, the rest of the attraction was in English. I found one thing interesting though. In the Tokyo attraction, the men still chase the women! They never made the politically correct change that the American parks made. |

| I had lunch at Cafe Orleans. A delicious chicken salad crepe and a Kiran lemon soda. Mmm. |
![]() |
| The street on World Bazaar has side streets that lead to Tomorrowland and Adventureland. |
![]() |
| Another band. |
![]() |
| In the middle of the day, I left the Disneyland park and went to the other Tokyo Disney Resort park, DisneySea. Here is the bicycle parking area. They ride a lot of bikes over there. |
![]() |
| The sign at the main vehicle entrance to the resort. |
![]() |
| They are building a Tokyo Disneyland Hotel right in front of the entrance to the Disneyland Park at the monorail station. |
![]() |
| There's the monorail. It runs a circle around the complex with four stops: Disneyland, DisneySea, Bayside Station and Resort Gateway Station. |
![]() |
| Inside the monorail is more like a subway train than the monorails at the other Disney parks. Also unlike the other parks, it costs money (¥250) to buy a ticket to ride. |
![]() |
| There's Tokyo over there. |
![]() |
| There are two (soon to be three) Disney hotels on property as well as six others that are lined up along one of the road. Here is one of them, the Sheraton Grande. They are served by the Bayside monorail station. |
![]() |
| Tokyo Disney Resort is built on reclaimed land (landfill) in Tokyo Bay. I seem to remember reading that it may be settling a bit, sinking a little into the bay. I don't know how true that is, but is seems possible. |
![]() |
| Outside the entrance to DisneySea. They do not sell a one-day park hopper, so I had to buy separate tickets for the parks. |
![]() |
| The first area, or port, you see is Mediterranean Harbor. |
![]() |
| The Hotel Miracosta is actually inside the park. |
![]() |
| A little touch of Venice in Japan. |
![]() |
| There is Mysterious Island, home to Jules Verne-themed attractions and shops. |
![]() |
| The American Waterfront. This is an old New York street scene. |
![]() |
| When you have money, you can shop at McDuck's Department Store. |
![]() |
| When you don't have money, you can pawn your things at Scrooge's Pawn Shop around the corner. |
![]() |
| The Tower of Terror does not have the Twilight Zone theme as in the American attractions. |
![]() |
| It is known as the Hotel Hightower, an old abandoned hotel from the 1890's. |
![]() |
| The story goes that Harrison Hightower III was a billionaire industrialist and explorer who brought back a cursed idol from a trip to Africa. |
![]() |
| Mr. Hightower disappeared in the elevator of the building. |
![]() |
| This is his office. Interestingly enough, American Harrison Hightower III speaks Japanese. Go figure. The really cool thing was an effect in this pre-show. See that idol on the pedestal on the left? At the end of the presentation, that thing disappears. I don't know how they do it. It just vanishes in a bunch of sparkly lights. The rest of the ride is pretty much the same as the others. |
![]() |
| There's a buffet restaurant in there. |
![]() |
| That's a restaurant too. |
![]() |
| Inside the S.S. Columbia ocean liner are two other restaurants. |
![]() |
| This looks just like a quaint little New England fishing village with two exceptions. One is all the Japanese people walking around and the other is the giant volcano in the background. |
