SAN JOSE

The ultimate goal of the trip was to see Nashville SC play San Jose Earthquakes.
At PayPal Park.
There was a very small museum room with some stuff in it. I am old enough to remember Krazy George and his time with the old San Jose Earthquakes of the original NASL.
The stadium is located very near the airport. Those are runways right over there.
There are these odd red seats behind one of the goals. I am sure that it is in tribute to the old Quakes from the 70's and 80's who wore red kits, but I have found nothing online that references them.
San Jose was not having a good season so far, having not won a match at that point.
And they didn't with this one either. Ordinarily a point on the road is a good result, but the fact that the Earthquakes were last in the Western Conference made the final score a little disappointing.
When I cancelled my reservation at the hotel in Reno, I booked a room at the Sonesta near the San Jose airport. The reason I didn't just stay at the hotel where I was is because they did not have an airport shuttle and I needed to return the car that afternoon because I had a very early flight Sunday morning.

When I returned the car, I had driven 2134 miles on the trip.
And here we come to an end, alone at an empty gate at 4:15 in the morning, listening to a Muzak version of Billy Joel's "Rosalinda's Eyes".
