WALES DAY 3 / NORTHWEST ENGLAND
| A nice view of the river from Conwy Castle. |

| Here you can see part of the wall that wraps around the town of Conwy. There are four arched entries into the town, a few of them quite narrow, which made it a little interesting for the fellow behind the wheel. |

| "Jeff, is it really y ty lleiaf ym mhrydain fawr?" Of course it is y ty lleiaf ym mhrydain fawr. Would I lie about something like that? |
|
| Let me take you down cause I'm
going to...The Beatles Story. There were no photos allowed inside, so this is all your
gonna see. The only song playing in the gift shop was "Imagine." Over and
over and over and over and over and over and... Imagine you've gone crazy. It's easy if
you try. We didn't see too much of Liverpool. In fact this was pretty much it. In most of the larger cities other than London and Edinburgh, there just isn't much to see. That's why in two trips we'd skipped industrial cities like Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham. It would be like taking a trip to, well Birmingham, Alabama. |
|
| I'm sure that the view from the other side of the river to this side would have been a better picture, but I didn't see any ferries 'cross the Mersey. So here's the less interesting bank of the river. |

| "Were you really in Blackburn?" Well, just look at the sign. Isn't that proof? |

| Working class homes in a working class town. |

| A residential area of Lancaster. I'm not entirely sure why I take pictures of houses. It's not like there's anything particularly interesting about this neighborhood. Just English suburban living. |

| Lancaster Priory. This photo was taken from what seemed to be some kind of ampitheatre. Not just any kind of ampitheatre, mind you, but one constructed from old grave markers. |

| Remains of a Roman bath. The Romans didn't get too much further north in Brittania than here. There are some of the same structures here as were in the big place in Bath but on a smaller scale. I don't know who built the building next door (which is not very old), but it was a pretty lousy location. I wonder if they removed some of this ruin to build the foundation. That would be a shame. |

| Okay, this is a poor shot of Lancaster Castle. I'm just too damn close. At least you can see both some of the castle architecture and the trappings of a working jail (those spiky things on the top of the short wall in the middle). |
