You wanna see animals? I got your animals. This is the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
A muskox.
This brown bear was on his way to a dip in the water.
It's a lot of land for the animals.
Those look like moose.
So do they for that matter. Not sure if they are or not.
They had a good number of bison.
Can't say for sure, but it may have been low tide at this end of Turnagain Arm.
Turnagain Arm has one of the world's largest tides. It rises more than 35 feet.

I think most of us look like this moose when we get up in the morning.

Done with the animals, we head to Whittier.
To get to Whittier, you have to go through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel under Maynard Mountain. It is a single lane with railroad track in the middle and is 2 1/2 miles long.
Almost the entire population of Whittier lives in this building, the Begich Towers Condominium.
Nearby is the abandoned Buckner Building, which was a military facility.
Alaska fun fact: In Alaska, it is illegal to wake a hibernating bear.

Whittier is a small cruise port as well where passengers can go on excursions.

This is an actual Avis location. I am not sure if that is the lone rental car.
Waiting fifteen minutes to go back through the tunnel.
On our way to Whittier, we saw the aftermath of an unfortunate meeting between a car and a moose. The car suffered quite a lot of front end and windscreen damage. On the way back, we see that the moose fared even worse.
