FRIDAY - CHIBA

TOKYO DISNEY RESORT
| Dawn is breaking through the window of my room. I routinely saw this because I was always up at around 4:00 a.m. |
![]() |
| On the way to the 7-Eleven every morning I passed this campaign poster. Vote for me and it will be mostly sunny every day. |
![]() |
| Another street in the neighborhood. |
![]() |
| Little kids going to school in their little uniforms. |
![]() |
| Being a bit of a Disney park-phile, I was compelled to go to Tokyo Disneyland. |
![]() |
| From the JR Maihama station, you make a right up the ramp and through this red arch. |
![]() |
| I'm going to Disneyland! |
![]() |
| The lines to get tickets weren't too long. |
![]() |
| The lines to get into the park, however, were a bit long. |
![]() |
| I really came to realize how much taller I was than the rest of the people in Japan when I was in queues. Nothing but a sea of the tops of the heads of little black-haired people. |

| There is no train that circles the park like in Anaheim, Florida or Paris. This is the entrance to World Bazaar, their version of Main Street, USA. |
![]() |
| It is shorter than even the park in Anaheim and is under a glass canopy. |
![]() |
| But no matter what the land is called or what is over it, every Main Street has an Emporium. Sadly, this one was closed on this day. |
![]() |
| The Cinderella Castle is exactly like the one in Walt Disney World. |
![]() |
| Tomorrowland looks a lot like the Walt Disney World version did before it was redesigned. |
![]() |
| Space Mountain. |
![]() |
| Lots of people were lining up to get their Fast Passes. It was first thing in the morning, so the stand-by line wasn't that long. |
![]() |
| The load area looks a lot like the one in Disneyland. |
![]() |
| The band played "Gonna Fly Now". The arrangement resembled Maynard Ferguson's. |
![]() |
| MicroAdventure! is what they call the attraction we know as Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. |
![]() |
| It's the same movie as everywhere else but dubbed into Japanese. The second to last row in the theater had headphones with English translations, but that row filled up first with Japanese guests. I don't really know why. Anyway, I've seen it so often I really didn't need the translation. It was more interesting listening in Japanese. |
![]() |
| As in the other parks, the Buzz Lightyear attraction is very popular. The queue got long fast. |
![]() |
| The same old raceway as the other parks. |
![]() |
| Remember what the old Star Jets used to look like before they became the Astro Orbiters? It still exists in Tokyo Disneyland. |
![]() |
| Tomorrowland Terrace has burgers and stuff just like the old one in Walt Disney World used to. |
![]() |
| The entrance to Toontown. |
![]() |
| Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin is one attraction I wish they would put in WDW. |
![]() |
| I didn't go in the Pooh's Hunny Hunt ride. There was quite a line for that one too. Everyone loves Pooh. |
![]() |
| The exterior to "it's a small world" resembles the one in Anaheim but without the outside loading area. |
![]() |
| The loading area is more like its Florida counterpart. |
![]() |
| Interestingly enough, these dolls are the actual size of real Japanese people. |
![]() |
| As it is in the U.S. parks, the only representation of American in the attraction are these little cowboy and Indian dolls. |
![]() |
| Pinocchio's Daring Journey actually opened first in Tokyo Disneyland, a month before Disneyland in California. |
![]() |
| These things always make me dizzy. |
![]() |
| The Haunted Mansion is exactly like the one in WDW. In fact, so much of the Tokyo Disneyland park resembles either Disneyland or Walt Disney World, there is not as much magic about it. It just seems like the same stuff in a different place. |
![]() |
| Here's an oldie but, well, an oldie. The old Mickey Mouse Revue, which was starting to look dated in 1980 when it was in WDW, was packed up and moved to Japan where it continues to play to this day. |
![]() |
| It does not matter what park it is in, Peter Pan's Flight is always crowded. |
![]() |
| Pretty much the only attraction in Critter Country is... |
![]() |
| ...Splash Mountain. I didn't want to spend the day wet so I skipped it. |
![]() |
| There is a fairly large open area in Westernland, the Tokyo version of Frontierland. |
![]() |
| An old favorite exists in Japan, the Country Bear Jamboree. |
![]() |
| The odd thing is that Melvin, Buff and Max all speak in Japanese... |
![]() |
| ...as do Henry and Wendell (both speaking and singing), but the rest of the show is sung in English. |
![]() |
| Japanese people getting a photo with Big Al. |
![]() |
| Big Thunder Mountain was closed on the day I was there. |
![]() |
| Slue Foot Sue's Diamond Horseshoe. There's a show and a meal like there used to be in WDW. |
