FRIDAY - TOKYO ![]()
HARAJUKU, SHIBUYA
| It looks like a monster crashed into the entrance of this shopping center. Maybe Godzilla? |
![]() |
| It's either a mania about condos or condoms. |
![]() |
| Harajuku busy on a Friday afternoon. |
![]() |
| Stopped into the Oriental Bazaar for some souvenir shopping. |
![]() |
| Then into this shopping center for some dinner with Lisa, who had to come into the city for an Apple Store appointment. |
![]() |
| I didn't realize until just now when I am researching these pictures that Salvatore Cuomo, the man after whom this restaurant is named and I'm sure owns, is kind of a big deal. |
![]() |
| He is an Italian-Japanese celebrity chef. His quattro formaggi pizza sure was good. And I had a Japanese cider. |
![]() |
| With all of the temples and shrines I've shown you, it's time to give the Christians a shout out with this church. |
![]() |
| Shibuya, another busy part of town that comes alive at night. |
![]() |
| There is a big intersection in front of the train station with a somewhat famous scramble crossing. All the traffic lights go red and the pedestrians all cross in various directions all at once like this. |
![]() |
| Who wouldn't want to go to a place called Club Gas Panic? |
![]() |
| The sky darkens and the lights brighten. |
![]() |
| Ah, another little piece of the U.S. of A. |
![]() |
| Okay, I had to look this one up. Love Plus was a popular Konami dating simulation game. Then someone opened up a massage parlor based on the game with girls in school uniforms. That's a really big thing over there. That and maids. |
![]() |
| Although the Love + place was a legitimate, albeit oddly fetishy place, this is just a sex shop. |
![]() |
| Back in Urayasu and the department store. The ladies were shopping for something while I waited. You can get your little kid's school uniforms here, complete with the little yellow hat. |
![]() |
| And here are outfits for older Japanese girls. These probably aren't actual school uniforms, just kinda sexy outfits designed to look like them. |

| Remember White Day is coming up. Lisa explained what White Day is, and it's not a day set aside to honor white people. On Valentine's Day girls and women give gifts to boys and men, usually chocolates. Then a month later on White Day the males reciprocate, but usually with something better than chocolate. |

| Back on the balcony of the apartment. You can see a large Ferris wheel (from where it is I think the Diamond and Flower) and the Tokyo Tower off in the distance. |
