DAY 2
London
| Another standard photo is one of a gas station. This one, which included a little Marks and Spencer food shop, was a short walk down the Carshalton Road from Cathy and Nigel's house. Unleaded was £0.90 per litre. That's about £3.41 per gallon. Convert that from pounds sterling to dollars and it comes out to approximately $4.80 per gallon. |

| *DUPLICATE PHOTO WARNING* Remember that warning from my California trip a couple of years ago? Well since this is a trip I have made before there are going to be a few of these here. But in London the digital pictures are bound to be better than my scanned prints from earlier trips. Click here for a video (and I guess more importantly audio) of the 11:00 chimes. |

| A view down the Thames from Westminster Bridge. |

| I don't really know why they still have phone boxes on the street. Everyone pretty much carries a mobile. They may keep them just so tourists can take pictures of them. |

| A walk alongside the St. James's Park. It was a lovely day to be out and a lot of people were enjoying the weather. |

| That's a magpie in the tree. He's a long way from Newcastle. (In case you didn't get that reference, the nickname for Newcastle Football Club is the Magpies.) |

| There is always a crowd out in front of Buckingham Palace. People always seem to be waiting for something to happen. |
![]() |
| Big ol' gates at the palace. |
![]() |
| There was a band marching around and playing inside the palace grounds. |
![]() |
| The daffodils were in bloom in Green Park. |
![]() |
| It must suck in some of these tube stations when the escalators are down for repairs. Some of them are quite long. |
![]() |
| Covent Garden. There are several permanent shops located in the old building as well as... |
![]() |
| ...some stalls set up inside. |

| Any large city has a Chinatown and London is no exception. We ate lunch (delicious crispy duck) at the restaurant on the left with the arched facade. |

| The West End is where a lot of theatres are located. Wicked is playing at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. |
![]() |
| And there's Mamma Mia at the Prince of Wales Theatre. That musical has been playing in London for damn near forever. |
