DAY 2
London
| *DUPLICATE PHOTO WARNING* I don't really know why Piccadilly Circus is so famous. There is that one building with all the lighted signs on it and that statue of Eros in the middle of the circle, but other than that it's just another roundabout. |

| There's the little arrow-shooting bugger. |
![]() |
| Regent Street. We are on our way to... |
![]() |
| ...Savile Row. There are a lot of fancy menswear shops on the street, but that's not why I was interested. |
![]() |
| This is what I came to see. 3 Savile Row was the building where the offices of Apple Records was located. The Beatles played their rooftop concert up there on January 30, 1969. I missed it by a mere 14,654 days. Damn! |

| Sotheby's. This is not the entrance at 34-35 New Bond Street. This may be the back of that building on St. George Street. |
![]() |
| A statue of William Pitt in Hannover Square. That would be William Pitt the Younger, not to be confused with his father, William Pitt the Elder. He is also not to be confused with Justin Pitt, who was briefly Elaine Benes' boss on Seinfeld. |

| This was an unintended Beatles site. My sister and her son went into a Foot Locker to look at sneakers (trainers over there) and I noticed this plaque on the wall. The Beatles recorded a demo in this store in 1962 which helped them to get an EMI recording contract. |

| Like I said, it is a Foot Locker now. |
![]() |
| The Barley Mow is the oldest pub in Marylebone, or so the sign says. It looks like it is closed down now. And they need to fix that hanging Y too. |
![]() |
| Winding your way down Baker Street, light on your head and dead on your feet. That is one of my all-time favorite songs. |
![]() |
| I see they still have phone sex ads in the phone boxes. Oh look, Mia is back in town! |
![]() |
| A black cab driver filling up at the Total station. There was a news story over there at the time about a black cab driver who molested a bunch of people. I saw a newspaper headline that started with "Black Cab Driver". I was amazed that they mentioned the race of the cab driver on the front page of the paper. It wasn't until a few days later that I realized that it was a driver of a black cab, not a black driver of a cab. Then again, there was a movie showing over there called Lesbian Vampire Killers that was similarly confusing. |

| This is Marylebone Station. It is into this station that the Beatles ran at the beginning of A Hard Day's Night. |
![]() |
| And this is the street they ran down. It is called Boston Place. |
![]() |
| If you have seen the film (And you really should. It is a classic.) you will recall the boys running down this sidewalk being chased by screaming fans. |
