take responsible care of it. Please do not play it immediately after eating. Particles of food, however small, will lodge on the reeds and spoil the tone. When you have finished playing, always tap the mouthpiece on the palm of your hand, thus shaking out as much moisture as possible. A large quantity of saliva left in the instrument will corrode the brass plates and reeds. This also will interfere with the vibration of the reeds thus spoiling the tone. Cultivate this habit of the so-called "DRY" method od playing, which professionals use. |
