MONUMENT VALLEY
Up early and on the road to
Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. |
There were things along the road
to see as well like these things. |
A hundred years ago men would be
riding horses through this area. I’m in a white Jeep. |
Still on the road. |
The flags of two nations (United
States and Navajo) and two states (Arizona and Utah). |
Merrick Butte, named after, well,
some guy named Merrick. |
I'm not sure how they name these
things. This one is Camel Butte. Does it look anything like a camel to you? |
One of the big ones on the trail
is Rain God Mesa. Mesas are larger than buttes. Did they bully the buttes
when they were in school? |
It's called The Hub. Looks
somewhat hublike. |
The Totem Pole and Yei Bi Chei. |
Sand Spring dunes. |
This one is aptly named The Cube. |
I wanted a picture of the Jeep
Liberty rental in front of some westerny stuff. The
formation on the left is called The Thumb. |
The Three Sisters and John Ford's
Point. He used this area in a lot of his westerns. |
It is all dirt roads throughout
the park. Bumpy dirt roads. |
The View Hotel. Imagine the view
out the windows of these rooms. |
I guess I kicked up a lot of
orange dirt. |
